Job Type Full-timeDescriptionABOUT USSanctuary for Families is New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies:direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Counselor will provide counseling, assessment, advocacy and referral services to child and teen witnesses and/or victims of domestic and gender-based violence. They will also provide information and outreach to the community, in order to empower community members with more education and resources. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and experience providing clinical services to child witnesses and/or victims of gender-based violence and other forms of trauma, while also working effectively as part of a clinical team to advocate for survivors and their families. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide mental health services for survivors and their children including short term individual counseling and crisis intervention with children, teens, and families;
  • Complete clinical assessments and treatment plans;
  • Develop effective relationships with children and families;
  • Facilitate appropriate clinical groups for clients, including, but not limited to, children's support group and parenting skills groups;
  • Collaborate with staff throughout Sanctuary for Families to provide holistic services;
  • Participate in team and agency meetings, individual supervisory meetings, case conferences and other meetings as requested;
  • Advocate for and assist families/individuals in the negotiation of service delivery system to ensure receipt of appropriate clinical and related services.
  • Complete all appropriate paperwork, including case notes and reports, in a timely manner;
  • Assist with children's room coverage as needed to support team in providing services to families seeking services;
  • Conduct outreach and training related to gender based and domestic violence;
  • Provide support and supervision to MSW interns as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor;
  • Competence in evidence-based modalities such as CPP (Child Parent Psychotherapy), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and/or Creative Arts Therapy preferred
Requirements
  • LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LCAT
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience with victims of domestic violence, including work with children;
  • Experience providing counseling and supportive services to domestic violence survivors and their families required;
  • Experience facilitating support groups and dynamic community workshops required;
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including two late evenings a week (up to and including 7:00 pm);
  • Ability to maintain a hybrid work schedule;
  • Interest in working with clients from diverse backgrounds;
  • Compute literate in Microsoft applications required;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
Budgeted Salary: $67,584 - $74,655 per year; based on experience pursuant to wage scale in accordance with collective bargaining agreementWork position is Full-time; Salaried/ExemptWork schedule is currently hybrid; must be able to meet job location schedule obligationsBenefits:
