We encourage all to apply for this position.The primary role of the Counselor is to support residents diagnosed with eating disorders in their wellness and recovery. Counselors provide support by promoting skill building, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and applying appropriate interventions congruent with the Unified Treatment Model.Other responsibilities include:
- Facilitate therapeutic groups
- Document in progress notes meal compliance, behaviors, and interventions in a timely fashion.
- Monitor patient safety (including eating disordered behaviors) and intervenes with recovery-focused directives.
- Provides 1:1 contact, individual support and crisis intervention as needed
- Monitor bathroom activities and break times.
- Monitor and support residents during meals and snacks.
- Reports any changes in the residents' physical and emotional well-being to the treatment team.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision, rounds and treatment team meetings.
Education, Competencies and Credentials:
- Minimum of Bachelors in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or similar
- Experience with eating disorders preferred, but not required
- CPR/AED certification required. On-line CPR certification will not be accepted.
