6 hrs per week, Flexible Schedule, Telehealth or on-site Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Provider to deliver vital mental health services to inmates within a county jail system. The ideal candidate will possess either a master's degree in counseling or social work. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to positively impact individuals' lives during an important time.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of inmates' mental health needs, utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on stabilization, skill-building, and preparation for re-entry into the community.
- Provide individual and group counseling services, addressing a range of issues such as substance abuse, trauma, anger management, and coping skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including corrections staff, medical professionals, and probation officers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Facilitate referrals to internal programs and external community resources for ongoing support upon release.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, sessions, and other relevant information.
- Stay current with best practices in correctional mental health and seek out opportunities for professional growth.
Qualifications:- Master's Level: Master's degree in counseling or social work. Current licensure (LPC, MSW, etc.) and eligibility for certification in correctional mental health (preferred).
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for working with justice-involved populations.
- Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, potentially challenging environment.
- Commitment to cultural competence and working with diverse populations.
- Registered Nurse: Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and diagnoses (e.g., substance abuse, personality disorders, psychosis)
- Correctional health experience preferred, but not required
Working Conditions:- This position is within a county jail setting.
- Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to all security protocols.
