The position of County Engineer requires an Iowa professional engineer license. Salary range is $120,000 to $135,000 for County Engineer and $75,000 to $90,000 for the Engineer in Training, depending on qualifications and experience. An excellent benefit package is included including health insurance, IPERS retirement plan, and paid time off.
The engineer plans, coordinates, assigns, and supervises all engineering work and construction work performed by the secondary roads department. The engineer also prepares and lets contract documents for projects, prepares an annual budget, and manages office staff. Good communications skills and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with county personnel, contractors, vendors, and the general public is essential.
