DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Social Services Aide 2 personnel are assigned to the Parent Education Program of the Agency providing parenting education services and transportation for our clients. We work in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, Courts, schools and other community resources in assisting the families. You will have the opportunity to prepare daily for activities including but are not limited to, parenting skills building, group therapy, discipline, budgeting, self-esteem building, and crafts. Work includes interfacing with therapists holding group sessions at the Parent Center, actively participating in the therapy groups, and participating in unit/team meetings to report on the progress of parents receiving parent education services.

Additional duties to include but not limited to:

+ Reviewing and updating client goals

+ Participating in the referral of parents to appropriate community resources

+ Maintaining case records sufficient to record the progress, or lack thereof, of each client

+ Participating in day care arrangements for children, if needed

+ Providing transportation services as needed to assist families

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment.

+ Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ One year as a County Social Services Aide 1;or

+ Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information;or

+ An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;or

+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.

+ Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
