Salary: $73,881.60 - $105,268.00 Annually Location : Houston, TX Job Type: Regular Full-time Job Number: 13447 Department: Probate Court 2 Opening Date: 08/23/2024 Closing Date: 9/23/2024 11:59 PM Central Position Description To manage, direct, coordinate and plan the operations of the Court for the Administration, and to assist the judiciary in certain decision-making except in those judicial decisions required by law to be made by the Judge. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the Office of Administration.
  • Coordinate with the Presiding Judge the planning of the monthly Judges' meeting.
  • Review level of court workflow by monitoring court performance metrics.
  • Recommend changes to court policy based upon performance metrics.
  • Insure that required changes are documented to the Rules of the Court.
  • Plan and coordinate special judicial conferences.
  • Coordinate all court travel for Judges and staff.
  • Insure that administrative rules, policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Fiscal Responsibilities:
    • Prepare and present budget for the Probate Court.
    • Oversee tracking of expenditures and comparison to budget.
    • Oversee management of payroll for Administration.
    • Approve acquisition of operating supplies.
  • Records and Reports:
    • Prepare and analyze specialized reports to ensure all pending cases are set for date and that all cases are accurately reported in court statistics.
    • Prepare periodic reports on court activities for Judge as needed.
    • Maintain schedules, statistics and other matters for the bench, bar and general public.
    • Assist in periodic inventories to ensure court records and filings are accurate.
  • Court Management:
    • Supervise preparation, duplication and distribution of all probate dockets.
    • Coordinate with appropriate Clerk's Office to resolve any data issues with case management system.
    • Maintain and control the master docket for all courts, including the setting and preparation of weekly and monthly dockets for court.
    • Research and recommend changes to administrative processes for implementation of technical advances.
  • Supervisor and/or Leadership Responsibilities:
    • Assists the judge in managing personnel as needed.
    • Responsible for negotiating with multiple agencies within Harris County and outside the County.
    • Represents county at various professional conferences.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years' experience of relevant work experience in court operations and management.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the Probate system.
