Job Posting End Date: October 22, 2024 at 11:59pm CST The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is seeking Court Security Deputies to work under the supervision of the Sheriff and perform court security duties as prescribed by the Tenth Judicial Court System. These positions are part-time, temporary intermittent up to 21 hours per week. The schedule will generally be daytime hours, Monday through Friday. 2024: Hiring rate: $35.00 per hour. Work Location This position will work at the Anoka County Courthouse, 2100 3rd Avenue in Anoka. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Court Security Deputy-Temporary. Calls the court to order and maintains order in the Courtroom. Escorts defendants. Protects and guards the jury and exhibits used in court trials. Ensures the readiness of the Courtroom prior to proceedings. Takes necessary action to thwart an escape or make an arrest as necessary. Restrains individuals as directed or required, Records judicial directive or decisions on necessary forms for use by the Sheriff; makes warrant arrests if necessary. Carries a weapon in the Courtroom. Works the security screening checkpoint. NOTE: This position does NOT have the same duties as a General Deputy. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Must currently be licensed by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standard and Training and employed as a full-time peace officer OR retired in good standing as a peace officer in the state of Minnesota and current with POST license requirements OR retired in good standing as a peace officer from a state other than Minnesota and be eligible to be licensed in Minnesota through reciprocity examination. Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License. Must be able to meet departmental requirements (practical and written) in the carrying of a firearm. Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation. Physical Demands and Work Conditions Skill in driving a motor vehicle under any conditions, handling and discharging firearms safely and proficiently, using radio, intercom, or other security/ emergency equipment as well as oral and written communication. Ability to tolerate the stress associated with working in a potentially dangerous environment, maintain self-control when confronted with verbal harassment of threats and stay calm and respond with composure in emergencies. Ability to demonstrate high integrity, honesty and trustworthiness consistent with effective law enforcement work. Ability to see, hear and remember people, evidence, facts and circumstances, stand, walk and sit for long periods of time, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch or crawl periodically as needed, lift and carry or drag objects or people weighing up to 100 pounds and to chase and subdue suspects as required. Work will primarily be performed in a Courthouse setting, but will also include travel to and from other County buildings. No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as unauthorized Tattoos under the sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. (Complete policy available upon request).
