When not engaged in that activity work will be assigned with both our maintenance and operations teams.As a valued crew member, the Terminal Operator/Crane Operator at our Searsport, ME, will work in a team environment with leadership to optimize efficiency while focusing on safety every shift. We are looking for a terminal operator/crane operator capable of a wide range of duties at an oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. A variety of skills/specialization may be utilized, some of which may require licensure or certification. Work hours primarily are Monday through Friday and often require weekends and nights to help handle our busy operations. Overtime is frequently available, though not guaranteed, and often required. Work is primarily performed outdoors, and the terminal operator will work with the maintenance team and the operations team in a maritime environment 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Regular travel to other Sprague terminals will be required.Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate vessel crane and assist with loading/offloading marine cargo vessels - primary position
- Operation of construction equipment (ex: skid steer, pay-loader, forklift, hopper, etc.)
- Valve alignment, piping skills, pump skills, and construction skills
- Pump And Motor maintenance and PM's
- Insulating and Pipe installation
- Hydraulics and Fittings
- General heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance
- Assist with mooring vessels
- Assist with offloading of liquid and bulk cargo vessels
- Ability to obtain Rigging, Signalmen, and Heavy Lift certifications
- Assist with maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment
- Participate in oil spill response drills
- Welding/Fabrication (with suitable training/certification as required)
- Travel to other Sprague facilities will be required
- Other duties as required
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements
- Knowledge of basic math
- Basic computer knowledge
- Mechanical aptitude
- Valid driver's license
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Travel to other Sprague facilities may be required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a general laborer preferred
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment a plus
- Specialized licensure in certain areas a plus (i.e. PIC qualification, equipment operator certification)
- Operator must be able to be trained and become proficient in the operation of cargo handling equipment including vessel cranes, hopper, skidsteers, forklifts,and other various pieces of equipment.
Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:
- Standing up to 75% of the day
- Lifting up to 75 lbs. (i.e. steel parts, spouts)
- Carrying up to 50 lbs. (i.e. oil, parts, tools)
- Pulling up to 75 lb. capacity (i.e. mooring lines)
- Extended climbing (i.e. tank ladders/stairs/ramps)
