It excels in efficient CBP inspections, CT scanning, 850,000 square feet of temperature-controlled warehouses, and serves two class 1 railroads.Job Title: Crane Supervisor Company: Port Wilmington Location: Wilmington, DE (Headquarters)Summary of Position: The Crane Supervisor will lead a team of crane operators and mechanics, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and optimizing crane performance to meet production targets. Strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of crane operations, and a commitment to safety and efficiency are essential.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Operational Management:
  • Supervise crane operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Monitor crane performance, productivity, and adherence to schedules.
  • Coordinate crane movements for loading and unloading cargo vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Address any technical issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
Resource Allocation:
  • Allocate cranes based on cargo volume, vessel schedules, and priority.
  • Optimize crane utilization to minimize waiting times for vessels.
  • Coordinate with other departments (logistics, planning, etc.) to align crane availability with cargo requirements.
Budget and Cost Control:
  • Manage the crane operations budget, including maintenance costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or efficiency.
Training and Development:
  • Train new crane operators and provide ongoing skill development.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture among crane operators and staff.
Emergency Response:
  • Develop contingency plans for crane-related emergencies.
  • Coordinate evacuation procedures and safety drills.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in crane operations or supervision preferred.
  • Proven experience as a crane operator (minimum 10+ years) with knowledge of crane safety regulations and best practices.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is desirable.
  • Expertise in operating various crane types (overhead, mobile, gantry).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with organizational and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification from a recognized crane operator training program or crane supervisor certification.
  • Familiarity with crane safety management systems (CSMS) or crane safety audits.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development in crane maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in industrial or construction settings with extensive crane use.
  • Knowledge of rigging techniques, load calculations, and lift planning.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking crane maintenance.
  • Safety certification credentials (OSHA) are a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC credentials within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, standing, and bending throughout the shift.
