Job Title: Crate Building AssociateJob DescriptionCandidates will be working in the Framing and Crating area and must have carpenter or woodworking experience.Candidate will use tape measures as they do in all departments, and must be able to use unassisted and follow basic blueprints/drawings.Candidate must use table saws, chop saws, and all equipment utilized in woodworking to build crating units to ship their final product and/or chucks that would go between panes of glass for transport.All candidates could be expected to move departments where needed, using hand tools, power tools, saws if needed, silicone caulking guns and in the insulation area.Each person will be responsible for meeting production goals overall and production goals for the day for their respective departments and assembly line;Candidates will be cross trained in various areas and therefore must be flexible to learning different parts of the process without complaint.Candidates are working with very large pieces of glass/sheet metal, and will be will be standing, and walking for an 8 hour shift as they assemble units that are typically about waist high. Window units are typically about 30 feet long, so working around large panes of sheet metal and glass is required and precision in their work.Candidates could be expected to go outside into the yard for materials/unit testing in their testing booth or to retrieve materialsResponsibilitiesAssemble units using hand and power tools.Paint the ends of materials and put netting/wrapping around final units.Inspect products throughout the process for any flaws.Meet overall and daily production goals for the assembly line.Work with very large pieces of glass and sheet metal.Stand and walk for 8-hour shifts.Retrieve materials and conduct unit testing in the yard when needed.Essential SkillsMechanical aptitude.Proficiency in reading a tape measure.Experience using hand and power tools.Minimum of 6 months experience in an assembly role.Ability to work with large unit assembly.Additional Skills & QualificationsComputer skills are a plus.Experience in construction or home improvement is ideal.Flexibility in performing various tasks as needed.Positive approach to work with great listening skills and a 'can do' attitude.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a non-climate-controlled facility with loud machines and a busy manufacturing setting. Team members work with very large pieces of glass, sheet metal, and steel frames and wood crating material. The shift time is from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with potential overtime during the week and mandatory Saturdays if needed.
