Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Inspector ensures the crate manufacturing processes and procedures are adhered to in order to meet the standards and requirements of the customer. The Quality Assurance Inspector may visually inspect or manually test products or processes before, during, or after the manufacturing process. They also record, monitor, and analyze data to pass on to the Operations, Sr. Management, and Quality teams. Essential Functions:
- Must wear steel toe boots and other required personal protection equipment.
- Top 3-5 essential functions and percentage of time spent on each:
- Inspection of crates - 50%
- Accepts or rejects completed work products by verifying the product or process meets the customer specifications and requirements through measurements and visual inspection.
- Inspect product or process with specialized tools. This may include weighing or measuring finished products, assessing moisture content of wood, visually inspecting workmanship and/or gauging product reliability.
- Uses proprietary software to track and update quality data and assists in delivery of reports to Operations, Sr. Management or Quality departments.
- Improvement Recommendations - 40%
- Reviews specifications, standards and/or test plans of customer designs, and reports feedback to the Design department.
- Reviews, implements and follows up on corrective actions derived from customer complaints, customer returns, and/or non-conformances found and their root causes.
- Participates in ISO audits to ensure local and company-wide compliance to specified standards.
- Communication to Production - 10%
- Gives feedback to Production department regarding any errors or non-conformances in the assembly process verbally or through written documentation.
Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- 6 mo. to 1 year of wood products manufacturing experience desired
- 1 year of quality inspection experience desired
- High school diploma or GED equivalent helpful
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing English. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Proficient (intermediate skills) in the MS Suite (Word, Excel) and ability to learn proprietary software
- Ability to read tape measure in and ?, etc. gradients
- Experience in blueprint and design reading helpful
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment
