Job Description:
The Credit Bureau Dispute and Reporting Analyst handles credit bureau disputes submitted to Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU) through direct and indirect (e-Oscar) channels. The Analyst also handles disputes submitted to SSFCU from ChexSystems. The Analyst ensures reviews are in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to mitigate risk and exposure to SSFCU. Responsibilities include researching and responding to credit disputes by following procedures, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring compliance with the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) regulations and Credit Union policies, and analyzing internal and external reports to identify root causes of credit reporting discrepancies. Responds to all direct and indirect credit disputes, and ChexSystems disputes, while remaining in compliance with the FCRA and CDIA. Ability to prioritize and complete disputes in accordance with regulatory deadlines. Ability to research and identify root cause and determine or provide solutions to address issues. Ensure required account maintenance or corrections to the Credit Reporting Agencies are performed based on dispute outcome. Provide accurate written responses to consumers based on dispute outcome. Become subject matter expert on internal reporting, and credit bureau and ChexSystems reporting and disputes. Maintains credit reporting logs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Remains in compliance with Credit Union operational policies and procedures. Assists with reviewing and updating internal procedures. Provide process improvements and enhancements to existing processes and procedures. Reviews and maintains reports to identify trends and/or areas of concern. Become CDIA certified every two years. Completes any other job-related duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Purpose, and abide by our Organization's Values.SNPIJHigh school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of Credit Bureau or related consumer financial experience required. Extensive knowledge, background and training in FCRA, Metro 2 guidelines, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), National Credit Union Association (NCUA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Understanding of loan contracts; including simple interest calculations and default provisions. Understanding of general mortgage, bankruptcy provisions, legal requirements and compliance. Skilled in e-Oscar platform. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated and strong attention to detail. Able to plan, organize and prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Able to analyze and record detailed information and produce accurate, high-quality work. Able to research, analyze, and identify root cause analysis and present solution. Highly motivated team player with ability to provide interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
