Adult High School Credit Diploma (Mandated) Teacher-English Reports to: Director of Adult Education Part Time, Two Evenings a Week (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs), 5:00-7:00 PM or 7:15-9:15 PM, Academic Calendar Non-Exempt Kitching Regional Learning Center, 215 Hogan Drive, Torrington Pay Rate: $32.13/hour, plus 45 minutes of paid planning for each class Position is open until filled / Anticipated start date is January 15, 2024 Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach a high school level English class for adult learners. Major Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver English lessons in person or online using Google Classroom for an agreed upon English curriculum (Science Fiction, American Gothic, American Literature classics, Identity/Coming of Age, Diversity/Inclusion or other as determined by the teacher, director, and student credit needs)
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to differentiate instruction
- Develop engaging and interactive lessons
- Use a variety of instruction strategies and activities
- Promote student independence and critical and creative thinking
- Sensitive to needs of adult learners
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have a CT #015 English 7-12 certification
- Must participate in College & Career Readiness Standards training
- Must complete state mandated trainings for working with students under the age of 18
