The Credit Risk Management Department provides an overall quality control review of various stages within the lending function. This new role will work within the team to identify systemic issues, control weaknesses and process improvements as well as assessing potential risks that may impact the overall organization. The Credit Risk Controls Manager will work across departments and partner with the Data Integrity Manager to research potential concerns and inconsistencies and assist in the development of remediation plans. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage quality of Bank credit administration information to ensure on-going accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure procedures from origination/purchase through servicing and disposition are documented with controls in place to minimize risk of loss to the Bank and adhere to Policy.
- In conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer, develop an Internal Audit plan that covers the commercial lending area including Underwriting, Real Estate, Loan Closing, Asset Management and Loan Servicing.
- Present findings and recommendations to upper management through reports and presentations.
- Maintain independence within the audited activities and carry out assignments objectively.
- Perform reviews of commercial loan underwriting to ensure compliance with the Bank's Credit Policy as needed.
- Analyze and approve annual commercial Asset Reviews as needed.
- Assist in performing a QC review of initial commercial credit files and prepare electronic credit files for regulator and auditor visits.
- Perform initial eligibility review for loans pledged to the FHLB and FRB BIC program and create processes and controls to ensure adherence to the program guidelines.
- Review disbursement requests for appropriateness in accordance with loan documentation.
- Oversee and/or perform post-closing reviews of files and loan system.
- Perform a post-closing follow up on outstanding items (legal and non-legal).
- Develop and generate management reporting of exceptions on a regular and ad hoc basis.
- Monitor credit servicing functions to streamline processes and implement controls to assure management of documentation and portfolio management accuracy and effectiveness.
- Adhere to the Bank's Credit Policy.
- Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- 5+ years of experience in Public Accounting or Internal Auditing preferred
- Ability to assimilate, organize and analyze large amounts of information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and self-motivate
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Capable of working independently as well as across departments with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to be resourceful as well as have strong problem solving capabilities
- Ability to identify group organizational needs and collaborate with others to find efficient solutions
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
- Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
