Description

Summary

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in conducting credit investigations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Assigns workers responsibility for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications.

* Schedules and directs training for new employees on company credit policies and procedures as well as customary credit requirements.

* Drafts invoices, Master Sales Agreements, Sales Order Acknowledgments and Promissory Notes.

* Gather financial information for the review of credit limitations and terms of contracts.

* Answer customer and sales inquiries, review credit applications and monitor and assign tasks to subordinate employees.

* Establishes credit limitations on customer accounts and handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.

* Establishes and updates customers' credit activities.

* Coordinates with others, including personnel in company branches and credit card companies, to exchange information and update controls.

* Assists management in the formulation of credit policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

* Directly supervises 1-2 employees in the Credit Department.

* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

* Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software.
