CREW CHIEF

This Crew Chief position earns competitive pay of $20.56/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CREW CHIEF

As a Crew Chief, you spend your day supervising a crew, training new employees, inspecting work assignments, and operating several types of equipment in the maintenance or construction of public properties. Other duties include completing work orders, assisting with traffic control during scheduled events, and performing administrative tasks. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include operating light equipment and a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.

When you are not out in the city, you generally supervising the work of others and providing direction to employees. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in operating construction equipment and performing industrial maintenance, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CREW CHIEF

  • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Education Preference: Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources.
  • Three (3) years of experience in related field.
    • Experience Preference: One (1) year experience in employee supervision and in the operation of light, medium, and heavy equipment in a municipal setting.
  • Must have a current and valid Class C drivers or a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) from the Texas Department of Public Safety within the first year of employment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
