The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Crew Supervisor for the Solid Waste Division of Public Services to supervise, oversee, and participate in the work of an assigned crew performing solid waste collections, or semi-skilled and skilled work in street and/or stormwater maintenance and operations; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Employee performs duties involved with heavy equipment, grading of streets, asphalt work, along with other street maintenance activities, excavating and laying of pipe and other stormwater, collecting household waste, yard waste and other bulky items related work with only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Employees are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
* Supervise, train, oversee and review the work of an assigned crew.
* Participate in reviewing work for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
* Coordinate and review work plans; direct, assign, monitor and inspect the work of assigned activities and projects.
* Ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
* Participate in duties of assigned crew and related service activities.
* Supervise the use and operation of maintenance equipment.
* Train assigned employees in techniques related to assigned areas of work.
* Maintain operation records and logs of all work performed; prepare and disseminate reports of operational activities.
* Create and complete computerized work orders.
* Initiate the procurement of supplies and materials

Experience:
Two years of experience performing field construction, stormwater or street maintenance, collecting and disposing of solid waste or similar work.
Training:
Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Possession of a valid Class B commercial driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred:
CPR certification; Confined Space Entry certification; Flagger certification; First Aid certification; Pesticide Applicator license; Forklift Operator certification; Public Health license; Commissioned by the State of North Carolina as a Notary Public; Supervisory Training class completion.
From the time of closing the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, background check and driving history check.
