The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Professional Standards Division, Quality Assurance Section is seeking candidates to fill the position of Crime Analyst Level l. The candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-auditing crime complaints and ICAD assignments

-creating and utilizing spreadsheets, databases, tables, charts, and graphics for analysis and distribution

-maintain complex databases and spreadsheets and perform analysis to demonstrate relationships between events and entities

-respond to telephone inquiries made by operational commands to assist in the proper crime reporting.

300 Gold Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201

Monday - Friday; Between 0700-1800

Qualifications

1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a closely related field; and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in the analysis and/or research of data related to crime, criminals, criminal intelligence, and/or other social sciences in a police, judicial, or other criminal justice setting; or

2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a closely related field; and a Masters degree from an accredited college in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or a closely related field.

SPECIAL NOTE:

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, three additional years of full time qualifying experience as described in (1) above; or two years of full time qualifying experience as a Crime Analyst Assignment Level I.

SPECIAL NOTE:

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, five additional years of full time qualifying experience as described in (1) above, or two years of full time qualifying experience as a Crime Analyst Assignment Level II.
