Job SummaryPerforms responsible technical and supervisory field work involving the collection and preservation of evidence at crime scenes. Assists Crime Scene Investigators assigned to a designated shift. Coordinates and participates in all aspects of crime scene processing on a designated shift, including but not limited to sketching, photographing crime scenes, obtaining prints, and assisting with reconstruction of crimes. Responsible for the documentation of supervisory notes on subordinate employees assigned to a designated shift. Initiates any disciplinary action required and completes required evaluations of subordinate employees. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Forensics Manager. Performance is evaluated while in progress and upon completion through direct on-site supervision, review of reports submitted, conferences, and results obtained.Minimum Qualifications:Associate's Degree in Crime Scene Technology, Crime Scene Investigations, Forensic Science, or related field and six (6) years of experience in crime scene processing and photography; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Training in supervision and management required. Must have successfully completed 144 hours of International Association for Identification (IAI) Board-approved structured programs and/or training. Must pass proficiency exam, medical and psychological examinations, and a thorough background check which includes polygraph. Must obtain certification through the IAI as a Level 1 - Certified Crime Scene Investigator within sixteen (16) months of hire.
