Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Kentucky State Police Location Post 1 8366 US 45 North Mayfield, KY 42051 USA Description Kentucky State Police (KSP) is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.With the highest level of professionalism and integrity the Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce,and deter crime and the fear of crime, enhance highway safety through education and enforcement, and safeguardproperty and protect individual rights. This Criminal Intelligence Analyst I position will assist investigations with intelligence gathering to aid inthe investigation process, improve continuity, and assist with deconfliction. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Respond to requests from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for background and workupinformation available on reported and suspected criminals, businesses, organized criminal groups etc.
  • Perform strategic analysis on projects assigned by supervisor.
  • Utilize databases to include criminal history, vehicle (AVIS), driver's license, corrections, courtinformation, Virtual Intelligence System (VIS) database and numerous other systems to develop associations,linkages, crime patterns etc.
  • Review, research, and disseminate information and intelligence received by the Intelligence Branch; checkingit for acceptability and validity before entering it into the VIS database.
  • Serve as KSP intelligence representative at local, regional, and statewide intelligence/informationsharing meetings as assigned by the chain of command.
  • Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports for officer safety and unique crime trends as needed and/orrequested by direct supervisor or the chain of command.
