Job Description:

This work involves the investigation of criminal complaints both independently and in conjunction with outside police agencies. The work also involves handling of evidence, evaluation of criminal complaints and trial preparation activities. Significant independent action is required in conducting investigations of suspected or actual criminal activity. General supervision is received from the Chief Criminal Investigator. Incumbent mustbe available on 24-hour a day call, 7 days a week, to respond to crime scenes as directed by the District Attorney or the Chief Criminal Investigator. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a police science related field and six (6) years of experience in aninvestigative capacity with a law enforcement agency as a police officer; OB. Completion of 60 college credits in Criminal Justice or a related field and eight (8) years of experience asdescribed in (A) above; OR;C. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and ten (10) years of experienceas described in (A) above; ORD. Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.NOTE: Your degree or credits must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, orspecialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary ofEducation. If your degree or credits were awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and itsterritories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who providethis service can be found on the Internet at You must pay the requiredevaluation fee.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- Incumbent must possess certification to serve as a Police Officer as required by Section 1.20(34)(g) of the CriminalProcedure Law.
