About this roleResponsible for oversight of the Criminal Justice Academy and ensuring compliance with FDLE Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) rules. Directs academy goals and objectives and oversees academy activities. Identifies needs and develops plans and projections for future programs and courses. Oversees and evaluates specialized and advanced training programs.
What a day of a Criminal Justice Director looks like:- Develops program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Conducts needs assessments to identify knowledge, skills, behaviors, and competencies required in selecting or designing curriculum.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of non-instructional programs. Develops and implements changes as needed.
- Directs and oversees the preparation of educational programs and educational activity reports including graduation distribution, enrollment, funding, accrediting agency reports and association surveys.
- Reviews proposals, plans, designs, and conduct evaluations for staff development, educational, and auxiliary programs.
- Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Ensures adherence to compliance requirements.
- Attends professional association meetings as required. Travels to meetings, between College locations, and for other purposes.
- Periodically evaluates the unit to ensure it meets the mission, goals, and objectives of the College and the department. Develops short-term and long-range goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations.
- Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for the department.
- Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of direct and indirect reports. Monitors and evaluates the performance of employees.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree
- Five years of related experience
- Supervisory experience
Knowledge of:
- Florida Statutes and CJSTC rules and procedures
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
- Motivating employees to apply the effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goals
- Analyzing relevant information to solve problems
- Resolving conflicts between individual needs and requirements of the organization
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to:
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
- Regular physical attendance required
- Valid Florida driver's license
