Department: Crisis Center
Employment Type: Part time, 12.5 hours per week
Shifts: Saturdays only - 7:00 am - 7:30 pm AND 7:00 pm - 7:30 am

The Behavioral Health Technician position is responsible for providing direct and supportive care to clients/patients. Duties generally include, but are not limited to, providing general oversight of day-to-day activities, redirecting clients/patients as necessary, health monitoring (vital signs), intervening/responding to crises, communicating with the established treatment team, facilitating group education/structured activities, and transporting clients/patients as needed. Behavioral Health Technicians are responsible for possessing a basic understanding of client/patient treatment plans, monitoring and documenting client/patient behavior, and providing a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for clients/patients.

Key Responsibilities:
* Direct Support: Provide oversight of day-to-day activities and redirect clients/patients as needed.
* Health Monitoring: Monitor vital signs and document client/patient behavior.
* Crisis Intervention: Intervene and respond to crises, while maintaining communication with the treatment team.
* Facilitation of Activities: Facilitate group education and structured activities for clients/patients.
* Transportation Assistance: Transport clients/patients as needed.
* Documentation of Care: Maintain clear and concise reports regarding client/patient behavior and treatment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of confidentiality laws governing the treatment of substance use and mental health disorders.
* Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Proficient in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively with clients, employees, family members, and other community contacts.
* Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in various forms (written, oral, or diagram).
* Basic keyboarding skills and ability to navigate and enter notes in electronic medical records.
* Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Ability to establish rapport with clients/patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
* High School education or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment; experience in Human Services or a related field preferred.
OR
* Exceptions to the qualifications listed may be made by the appropriate Executive Team member.
Employment Requirements:
* Successful completion of background checks including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
* Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
* Fulfillment of all training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
* Current driver's license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
* First Aid certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.
* Obtain CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.
* Successfully complete medication administration training according to program standards.
* Behavioral Management training must be completed within thirty (30) days of employment or the first available class after the start date.
* Achievement of thirty-six (36) hours of training requirements within a two-year period in accordance with 9 CSR 10-7.110 E 1. Must complete 40 hours of related training annually.
* Extensive knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the program to which the employee is assigned.
* Valid driver's license in the state of residency with an acceptable driving record. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle and at least twenty-three (23) years of age to operate a company-owned fifteen (15) passenger van.
Physical Requirements:
* ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
* Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during the work shift. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
