Job PurposeThe Crisis Therapist is responsible for providing quality crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting with a mental health or substance use disorder crisis in a timely and responsible manner. Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related Field.
- Must have all necessary course work and meet all the requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at a minimum be eligible to begin supervision. OR
- Must meet the Department of Mental Health's Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional.
Core Job Duties
- Conduct Crisis Assessments to determine appropriate level of care.
- Provide Crisis Interventions.
- Maintain working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures.
- Discharge/transition/aftercare plans completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plan with clients.
- Link individuals with resources and ongoing mental health/substance use disorder treatment.
- Provide mobile response as needed for crisis interventions.
- Follow up with individuals after crisis interventions are provided to ensure safe care transitions.
- Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
- Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
- Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency's certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
- Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
- Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
