General Summary- The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides care within their scope of practice throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- The CRNA sees and serves patients by performing and providing anesthesia services within the scope of their education, training, knowledge, judgment, skill, and competence as a CRNA and consistent with Employee's formal advanced nursing education and national certification, if applicable, pursuant to the supervision of a Hospital staff anesthesiologist or other physician as assigned and determined by Hospital.
- Performs Anesthesia Services in accordance with professional standards prevailing in the community and currently approved methods and practices, including the ethical standards of the Missouri Board of Nursing and any such standards as may be published by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, or any similar or successor organizations.
- Assists in maintaining compliance with any legal or certification requirements, including those of the Joint Commission.
- CRNA participates in the continued development and improvement of anesthesia care at the Hospital, consult with other professionals as needed, participate on committees and work groups of the Hospital, and provides training and education for Hospital personnel or members of the public when necessary/requested.
- Maintains adequate records. Completes chart corrections in timely manner.
- Attends departmental meetings. Participates in growth and improvement of group.
Education- Completion of accredited nurse anesthesia program
Certification/License- Missouri RN Licensure, or equivalent
- Missouri APRN Licensure, or equivalent
Mental/Physical Requirements- Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions- Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times. Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids. Minimal physical discomfort.
