**Purpose:**
Provides anesthesia services under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Provides airway management services as required.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Manages the anesthesia environment of care, ensuring a proper QA and safety of anesthesia machine, anesthesia work cart, and equipment
+ Develops and carries out an anesthetic care plan under the direction of the responsible attending anesthesiologist and such a plan includes selection and implementation of appropriate monitors, drugs, fluids, and anesthetic techniques
+ Assume responsibility for personal development and education
+ Responsible for rotating to all SH campuses and assigned departments as assigned to assure familiarity and maintain competency. Call required
+ Provides continuous vigilant observation of patients under the CRNA's care, correcting abnormal patient responses and seeking consultation from the responsible attending anesthesiologist where appropriate
+ Reviews with the responsible attending anesthesiologist the pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient and such evaluation may indicate the need for additional studies or consultation.
+ Know and follow all organizational/departmental policies/procedures.

+ Manages emergency situations including initiating and participating in cardiopulmonary resuscitation
+ Participates in the efficiency of the Operating Room, starting cases on time and minimizing turnover time to the full extent of the CRNA's control.

+ Ensures patient stability and safe transfer to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit
+ Participates in the supervision of students and ancillary personnel and in educational programs.
+ Incorporate leading/evidence-based practice in quality/safety into everyday work. Commit to high quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety. Speak up with other service partners to ensure high quality and safety. Report serious events/incidents per policy.
+ Completes an accurate and timely anesthetic record for inclusion in the patient's chart
Bachelors in Nursing Required. Masters in Nurse Anesthesia Required. Masters in Nurse Anesthesia required for any new incumbents. Experience as a student nurse anesthetist, or a CRNA in the provision of those services provided in SH
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
Registered Nurse licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Required. Certified with the American Association Of Nurse Anesthetists as Registered Nurse Anesthetist Required.
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
