Position Type: District Support ServicesDate Posted: 8/20/2024Location: District WideDate Available: 09/03/2024Closing Date: Open until filledDistrict: Owatonna Public SchoolsPosition Summary: The Crossing Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, parents, and other pedestrians as they cross busy streets near school premises. The role involves directing traffic, monitoring crossing points, and assisting pedestrians in navigating intersections safely during peak school hours. Position Requirements: A High School Diploma or equivalent required. Observe strick adherence to district policies and procedures. Certification in CPR and basic First Aid preferred. Other Skills & Abilities: Strong observational and situational awareness skills; ability to communicate clearly and assertively; consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality; ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand on concrete for extended periods of time, ability to stand for extended periods, ability to hold and use a stop sign, and to react quickly to traffic conditions, use the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
