Position: CROSSING GUARD

Effective Date: October 25, 2024 - open until filled

Department: Police

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Wage: $14.00/hourPosition Summary

This position reports to the Crossing Guard Supervisor. Assists pedestrians and school children in safely crossing city streets.

Schedule: Monday-Friday (Compensated for 1.5 hours per shift, 3 hours total per day)

Morning Hours: 8:15 AM - 9:00 AM*

Afternoon Hours: 3:20 PM - 4:00 PM* (Early out days and other events - hours may vary)

*School District schedule changes may affect these hours.

Benefits are not offered with this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A. No education or experience is required. Must be age 18 or older.

B. Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations in assisting children in crossing streets preferred.

C. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and communicate effectively verbally.

Tools and Equipment

Handheld stop sign, safety vest, and traffic cones (provided).

Typical Duties

1. Controls traffic at school crossing intersections.

2. Assists school children safely crossing City streets on their way to and from school.

3. Follows safety rules and regulations while performing duties.

Physical Requirements

Lifting: light - up to 20 lbs. typical

Repetitive: standing, walking, listening, talking, grasping, smiling.

Work Requirement

Outdoors - all weather conditions (Coat provided)
