Cross Safe is seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join us as a Crossing Guard in Reading, PA. What You'll Do
  • Safely guide children and pedestrians across designated crosswalks and intersections.
  • Monitor traffic flow and signal pedestrians to cross only during safe gaps in traffic.
  • Direct traffic when needed using hand signals, stop paddles, and verbal commands.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and traffic regulations at all times.
  • Report traffic violations or concerns to law enforcement or school officials.
  • Assist pedestrians during adverse weather conditions or hazardous situations.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and drivers.
  • Collaborate with school officials and community leaders to promote traffic safety awareness.
  • Attend training sessions to stay updated on safety protocols.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to ensure the safety of the community.

  • Previous experience as a crossing guard or in a related field is advantageous.
  • Ability to assess complex traffic situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and remain alert and attentive during duty hours.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Reliable and punctual with a commitment to ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians.
  • Understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug test. These checks include a criminal check and a sex offender registry check.
