Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. Local applicants only. The Computer Science department requires that you specifically address how professional experience or graduate coursework pertains to their Core Learning Outcome with your submitted course justification. Core Learning Outcomes

  • Examine the major historical implications of information technology.
  • Identify some of the basic concepts of a global society influenced by Information Technology.
  • Evaluate possible effects of emerging technologies upon the social, cultural, economic, and ethical values of the United States and world.
  • Analyze the ethical considerations of the introduction of new technology globally.
  • WI: Analyze the effect of a current technology on society through a research paper with an arguable thesis and cited resources.
This is a Writing Intensive course, instructor approval is contingent on both department review and successful completion of a 4-week online workshop. The certification is conducted through Canvas with a live instructor that focuses on pedagogical techniques for teaching writing and using writing to teach content that are supported by research in writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines. Minimum Qualifications Masters or Ph.D. level degree in the discipline (CS or IS) or in a related discipline (MBA, etc.) from an accredited school AND received graduate credit with a grade of B or better in the course applied to teach, OR one year work experience in subject material of course applied to teach. Course Description This course presents the social, political, economic, multicultural, and ethical issues surrounding the use of computers and computer technology. Course work includes class discussion, readings, collaborative projects and formal term papers on selected topics.
