Job Description:
We are currently looking for a Full Time Culinarian to join our Residential Treatment Section team located at the Nittak Himitta Womens and Childrens Recovery Center.Summary:Provides oversight in the planning, ordering, receiving, preparing, cooking, portioning, distributing and serving food for regular and therapeutic diets.Responsibilities:* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made- Greets and engages with a smile- Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types- Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment- Maintains and promotes professionalism- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards* Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.* Ensures appropriate temperature, labeling and storage of food and food products to avoid contamination and ensure quality* Prepares nutritious and attractive meals ensuring special nutritional needs are met* Assists in maintaining proper records including food purchase forms, menu planning guides, meal counts, and freezer/refrigerator logs* Maintains proper sanitation and safety practices* Educates on menu, dietary options and healthier options and answers any questions* Follows prescribed menus and recipes* Maintains and tracks assigned inventories using physical counts, supplier reports, material usage reports, software tools or any combination thereof* Conducts audits of inventory on a scheduled basis* Manages and orders office inventory, equipment, uniforms and/or other operational supplies* Assists management in facilitating or conducting training employees and vendors on policies, procedures and guidelines- Trains individuals or groups- Develops or revises training materials and processes- Assists with implementing new procedures, processes and or guidelines- Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the Chickasaw Nation diversity goals- Provides training and policy updates to colleagues, ensuring legal compliance of management and human resources staff* Performs all other duties as assignedCompetencies:Essential:* Ability to practice appropriate boundaries including no social media contacts with present or former individuals served* Able to follow instructions, both written and oral * Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements* Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability* Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines* Methods and practices used in food services* Ability to plan, organize and follow through on assignments* Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management* Writes effective communications with team, departments, guests and managementSkills:Experience:Essential:* 2 years directly related experienceEducation:Essential:* High School, GED or EquivalentCredentials:Essential:* Standard Driver's License* ServSafe Certification* Pass general background checkNonessential:* Certified Dietary ManagerWorking Conditions:Essential:* Food service* Fast-paced* Slippery surfaces* Subject to kitchen hazards such as burns, knives, slippery floors etc.* Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach* Sometimes lift and or carry up to 50 lbs* May be required to assist individuals who are under the influence* Pass pre-employment drug test
