Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPosition Overview: At Bread Alone we are committed to the environment, to the community that has supported us for over 40 years, and our love of craft. Our artisan Boiceville campus was recently renovated into the nation'sfirst and only carbon neutral bakery and commissary. As a part of our team you will participate in the daily production of all items for our Hudson Valley cafes and New York City greenmarkets. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with an array of culinary equipment(entirely powered by solar panels) as well as our one of a kind traditional wood-fired ovens in our Artisan Bakery.The primary area of focus for this role is on our high volume savory preparation but it is important to note that our team is expected to work collaboratively and cross functionally to deliver exceptional products to the cafes and markets every day. As a member of our culinary team your primary focus will be on supplying our cafe kitchens with high quality components including a full range of our savory items from scratch made sauces to locally sourced proteins. This is a multifaceted commissary production role with daily duties focusing on high volume prep as opposed to working on a line. Members of the culinary team are expected to hold a complete working knowledge of all recipes and techniques as well as the ability to use a variety of equipment. Team members are expected to work efficiently and precisely at a high level consistently building good work habits while positively contributing to our culture. Working hours for the culinary production team are between 9 am and 5:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Limited flexibility, dependent on scheduling needs, for a candidate that can work well independently. In this position we offer a 5 day working week with an 8 hr day.   • Work with our culinary team (Pastry Chef, Chef de Cuisine, and Head Baker) to craft a diverse range of food and baked goods for our three Cafes and NYC 1 greenmarkets
  • Consistently produce items that meet our standards
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety protocols, in line with our commitment to excellence
  • Follows all recipes closely and packs/ portions according to specifications

Job Requirements:
  • Attention to detail and a focus on daily execution
  • Prior experience in professional cooking, artisan bread baking, pastry making, or a related discipline is preferred and a genuine passion and willingness to learn is essential
  • Flexibility to accommodate scheduling changes as dictated by the needs of the business
  • Physical endurance to manage extended working periods, standing for long periods of time and handle physical demands

  • Able and willing to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety a well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management
  • Willing to follow all food safety regulations and guidelines which include but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from cologne or makeup at work (e.g. mascara, nail polish, heavy foundation, etc)
  • The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends
Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt Compensation: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. The starting pay range for this position is $18.00 to $22.00 per hour with the possibility to earn significantly more for highly skilled team members. We Offer:
