OPPORTUNITY SUMMARYThis position will assist our chef instructors in the Garde Manger kitchen. Some tasks include kitchen set up, food order check-in, chef demo set-up, recipe testing, and more. The assistant works with the team to provide a clean, organized, and welcoming kitchen environment for all staff and students in the Garde Manger kitchen.SHIFTS
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide exceptional operational support
- Provide a high level of professionalism with the Chef
- Performs tasks related to but not limited to organization of reach-in coolers, dry stock with proper storage and security and sanitation guidelines.
- Works closely with Chef instructor to set up demos and follow prescribed timelines
- Sets up and breaks down workstations.
- Efficient production with minimal waste during all phases of recipe preparation, production, and service.
- Updating study materials
- Recipe testing/updating
- Product utilization and production of menu items beyond the daily menu
- Transporting any supplemental orders
- Creating visual learning tools (videos and photos)
- Support daily learning objectives
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested
PREREQUISITES
PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES
- Six months cooking experience working in a professional kitchen setting

- Ability to maintain professionalism and adhering to standards of operational excellence, safety, efficiency and educational goals set by the CIA.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests, students, and faculty/staff.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
