Culture and Climate Coordinator opening at our Regional Multicultural Magnet School in New London, Connecticut.
General Scope of Responsibilities The Culture and Climate Coordinator is responsible for leading school-wide culture, climate, and systemic reform initiatives with a focus on trauma-informed and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices. Primary responsibilities include coordinating and implementing behavior and SEL systems, supporting teacher development through coaching, cultivating family engagement, and fostering partnerships to enhance school climate. This position is designed to support goals associated with a five-year federal grant which requires data collection and reporting relative to desired program outcomes.
Relationship within the Organization The Culture and Climate Coordinator reports to and is evaluated by the Principal of the Regional Multicultural Magnet School.
Responsibilities Culture, Climate, and Systemic Reform: - Lead to ensure systemic reform in the areas of Trauma-Informed Practices and School-Wide Culture and Climate
- Provide culture and climate coaching services to educators across all grade levels
- Coordinate the development of tier 1 culture and climate lessons
- Refine Tier 1 Research-Based Culture and Climate Systems
- Facilitate teachers' ability to create positive classroom cultures
- Support student response systems to drive culture and climate
- Collaboration with outside systemic reform partners (trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, etc.)
Professional Development: - Design and deliver culture and climate professional development to all staff
- Develop professional development sessions that support teacher growth
- Participate in McREL Leadership Program
- Attend and turnkey professional learning
Partnership and Collaboration: - Complete all state and federal applications, paperwork, reports, and forms to meet the requirements for CSDE, USDOE, and other evaluations
- Engage with a diverse team of educators to achieve grant deliverables
- Identify, collaborate and create sustainable partnerships outside thematic partners to enhance school-wide culture and climate
Behavioral and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Support: - Coordinate multi-tiered systems of support in collaboration with Student Support Services
- Facilitate creation and implementation of an executive functioning and SEL curriculum
Assessment and Reporting: - Monitor and reports on overall Culture and Climate grant program goals and objectives
- Supports school leaders to ensure that grant and school goals are met; share progress/growth
- Monitor and report parent engagement initiatives and data
Additional Responsibilities: - Works with school leadership in the design, implementation, and quality review of programming
- Performs other tasks as appropriately assigned by the School Principal
Experience, Knowledge, and Training Education: - Current CT Educator certification
Experience: - At least 5 years classroom (or similar instructional setting) or coaching experience
Preferred Experience: - 3-5 years middle school teaching or coaching experience
Special Skills: - Ability to work well with others
- Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning theory when working with staff
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse instructional settings
- Experience with responsive classroom, PBIS, and other research-based behavioral system
- Demonstrated ability to use data to drive improvements
- Experience coaching or supporting teacher development/skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
