Job Title: Culture AssociateReports to: Associate Director of Student Experience & SafetyJob Type: Full-Time, SalaryLocation: Northside Charter High SchoolJob Overview:The Culture Associate plays a critical role in maintaining a positive and orderly school environment by monitoring student behavior in hallways and common areas. This position is essential in ensuring that school policies are consistently enforced and that students are redirected in a respectful and supportive manner. The Culture Associate will also assist with data collection related to student traffic, incidents, and other key behavioral metrics. This individual will support after-school events and other school-related activities when necessary.Key Responsibilities:
- Hallway Monitoring:
- Ensure a constant presence in designated hallway areas during class transitions.
- Monitor and redirect students not following school policies (e.g., wearing hoodies, using Airpods, hallway passes etc.).
- Encourage timely movement to and from classes and prevent unnecessary loitering.
- Monitor bathrooms efficiently (e.g., not letting more than 3 students in the bathroom at a time. Redirecting other students back to class if too many students are in the bathroom)
- Alert dean's team of incidents, physical altercations, clearing hallways
- Data Collection & Incident Reporting:
- Collect data on student traffic patterns and incidents during transitions. (e.g., bathrooms, lateness, cutting class)
- Keep records of hallway incidents, student redirections, and any noteworthy behavioral trends.
- Maintain and monitor bathroom logs to track student usage.
- Student Support & Redirection:
- Redirect students towards positive behaviors and reinforce school guidelines.
- Provide gentle reminders and corrections regarding dress code and prohibited items, such as hoodies and ear pods.
- Support school staff in managing any crises or incidents that occur within the school or during transitions.
- Event & Activity Support:
- Assist with supervision during after-school events and activities as needed.
- Provide additional support during assemblies, lunch periods, and other school-wide events.
- Assist with planning and execution of school events and activities hosted by the Student Experience Team.
- Collaboration with School Staff:
- Work closely with the Associate Director of School Experience & Safety and Deans to ensure alignment with school values and behavior expectations.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, deans, and other school staff regarding student behavior.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or equivalent required; college coursework in education or social work preferred.
- Experience working with children or teenagers in an educational or youth development setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and respectful in challenging situations.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to track data and submit reports.
Physical Demands:
- Standing and walking for extended periods while monitoring hallways.
- Light lifting or moving of objects for event setup or student activities.
Schedule & Availability:
- Regular school hours with flexibility to stay for after-school programs and events.
- Occasional weekend work may be required depending on school events.
