The Curriculum Coordinator / Substitute Teacher assists with program development through actions to ensure that the curriculum and IEP's support the intellectual, sensory motor and affective development of preschoolers enrolled in the program. Provides certified coverage in the classrooms, as needed.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Provides certified coverage for classroom teachers for short and long term leaves, attendance at meetings, etc.
* Monitors implementation of the curriculum, oversees curriculum training and any curriculum adaptations.
* Provides supervision and support to staff in the implementation of curricular goals and accessibility equipment.
* Oversees the development of IEP's for all students in the program to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
* Anticipates, prepares and coordinates all materials required for Annual Reviews, Requested Reviews, and Turning 5 meetings, as per the specifications and timelines mandated in SED regulations and/or DOE contract.
* Attends all IEP meetings and case conferences, as directed.
* Serves as the primary liaison with the school districts (CPSE's, and CSE's) for children enrolled in the program, both center-based and inpatient.
* Provides coverage for IEP meetings across Early Education programs.
* Implements Parent Training sessions for preschool students per IEP frequency.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Maintains inventory of curriculum materials and equipment
* Reviews the material orders for teaching and therapy staff.
* Prepares and coordinates school schedules for use of special facilities, field trips, and IEP conferences.
* Coordinates specials events in the school such as graduation and holiday celebrations.
* Monitors the quality, timelines and completion of student records.
* Participates in quality program.
Formal education required:
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education required, birth-2 preferred
NY State Certification in Special Education required
Master's Degree in Special Education, Birth to 2nd grade, preferred
SAS, SBL certification preferred
Enrolled in program for Administration credential considered
Previous experience required:
Classroom teaching experience with CPSE
Minimum of 2 years experience with the CPSE evaluation process, including packet preparation and evaluation site representation
Experience with the development of IEP
