Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the E5, Grade 6 Salary Schedule with a range of $28,271-$45,419, dependent on applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Occasional weekend work may be required. Supervisory Responsibility: None Start Date: August 2024 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Job Title: Custodial/Maintenance EmployeeEssential Function*: The primary function of this position is to perform general housekeeping duties as well as buildings and grounds maintenance as assigned. The custodial/maintenance employee is under the direct supervision of the Director of Physical Plant and the overall supervision of the NACC President. The employee must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.Duties and Responsibilities: The position of a custodial/maintenance employee requires the ability to follow instructions, the physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor (able to lift 50 pounds), complete assigned tasks, and clean buildings, which includes the following:Performs general building custodial/maintenance functions to include, but not limited to, washing windows; sweeping and mopping floors; stripping, buffing and waxing floors; and other general custodial and maintenance as assigned by the supervisor and/or PresidentAssist with college event preparation, including, but not limited to moving and setting out tables and chairs, cleaning of event space, moving equipment and/or furniture, etc.Pays particular attention to the cleanliness and sanitation of all buildings and restrooms in assigned work areas as well as entrances and areas surrounding the buildingsPaints inside and outside buildings as assignedPerforms grounds maintenance work such as mowing grass, planting shrubs and flowers, and keeping an assigned area litter freeReports to supervisor any item in need of repair and corrects or reports safety hazardsPerforms any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor and/or President Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is requiredProlonged standing/walking/lifting/stooping/bending is requiredKnowledge of use of cleaning suppliesSkill in operating equipment/machinery such as buffer and lawn mowerOrganizational skills to plan work to be completed within required time frameAbility to work independently and on teamsAbility to work professionally and courteously with employees, students, and visitors on campusAbility to work occasional weekends and evenings, as needed to cover custodial and maintenance needs of the institution for special eventsGeneral knowledge of the functions of the College to direct visitors to the appropriate officeSkill and experience in paintingMinimum Required Education, Training and/or Experience: One year experience in above type work is preferredPossession of a valid driver's license is required Application Procedures/Additional Information IMPORTANT!!! - Read all of the following information very carefully before you submit an application.
