DESCRIPTION Custodians play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students & staff can focus on teaching and learning. Custodial staff performs custodial duties to keep the buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly condition. Positions in the custodial area include day porter, floor tech, and general cleaner (evenings/weekends). QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to pass a SLED criminal background check
- Sex offenders and other related background checks will be conducted
- Provide a TB Test
- Provide work authorization documents
- Desire to work in a school setting
- Experience in housekeeping, janitorial, custodial or commercial cleaning is a plus
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push, pull, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel
- Walk up to 8 hours per day
- Climb ladders, scaffolds up to 6' high, and stairs
- Able to use basic hand tools

DUTIES
- In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors
- Machine shampoo carpeting
- Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures
- Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors
- Sweep entryways and empty trash cans immediately outside building entrances
- Clean restrooms, plunger sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies
- Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower
- Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work
- Organize and supply custodial closets as needed
- Move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed
- Adheres to policies and procedures as outlined in the Riverview Employee Handbook.

- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Establishes effective working relationships with other members of the school staff.
- Promotes the overall effectiveness by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities with members of the department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
