This position requires an approved driving record to perform the duties. This position is a full time position with competitive benefits including VRS retirement, medical, dental and vision benefits for employee $26 monthly and paid time off. Takes charge of City building or facility, performing routine security by opening and locking doors;Performs regular custodial functions such as sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, mopping and buffing floors;Gathers and disposes of refuse from interior and exterior of assigned buildings;Prepares cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for tasks according to manufacturer's specifications;Cleans and disinfects urinals, toilets and lavatories;Refills soap, towel and tissue dispensers;Cleans lobby entrance glass, drinking fountains, walls and woodwork;Spot cleans carpet and upholstered furniture;Dusts office furniture, partitions, high and low ledges and moldings, and venetian blinds;Cleans and polishes bright metal;Works from ladders of various heights;Operates a variety of specialized custodial equipment, such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums. etc.;Operates light automotive equipment;Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, materials and equipment;Reports repairs beyond capabilities of custodial workers to supervisor;Responds to emergencies such as snow, flood, wind storms, etc.;Moves furniture and boxes as neededADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned.When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May oversee work of subordinate custodians on specific jobs. Relevant commercial custodian experience is required. Additional Requirements Possession of valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with an acceptable record driving record that meets the criteria of the City.Relevant background checks must be completed and approved.Must successfully complete IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. Describe your experience in leading a work group. 07 This position requires you to work overtime to assist with snow removal and perform heavy cleaning as well as other emergencies.
