Job Description

The Custodial Working Supervisor coordinates and oversees all aspects of the daily 2nd shift custodial operations for the School. Assist with daily operational matters that may occur during the 2nd shift and assist with oversight and coordination of all School and/or public events that may be planned for the campus. Additionally responsible for assisting with building cleaning activities to provide support to the custodial staff, as needed, to complete daily/weekly cleaning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Supervise and schedule custodial staff to perform: sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming and mopping, dusting and polishing; window cleaning; carpet restoration and extraction cleaning; resilient tile cleaning, restoration, and waxing; furniture and upholstery cleaning; restroom cleaning; disposal of trash; seasonal deep cleaning and restoration of all buildings; set up and tear down activities for campus and public events.

· Address complaints and resolve problems.

· Assist the Director of Buildings & Grounds with job performance evaluations.

· Monitor to ensure that all custodial equipment is used, maintained, and working as specified.

· Work with the Facilities Supervisor for scheduling, set up, tear down, direction, supervision, and evaluation of campus and public events.

· Assist the Facilities Supervisor with inventory control and ordering materials and supplies for the School's custodial operations.

· Suggest and implement changes in work practices for better efficiency and quality. Utilize information to make positive changes, become more efficient, improve quality of service, maintain safety, and motivate workers to achieve consistently high standards.

· Ensure compliance with established safety and maintenance standards and housekeeping practices. Assist with safety training as needed for custodial staff. Organize and ensure proper storage of MSDS sheets.

· Assist with custodial cleaning, as needed, to complete daily/weekly cleaning tasks to assure proper coverage for campus cleaning. Will provide fill-in assistance to cover custodial cleaning when a 2nd shift staff person is on vacation or leave.

· Identify and report possible maintenance repairs.

· Shovel snow from sidewalks and treat entryways and sidewalks with ice melt.

· Previously related work experience is preferred but not required. Must show a willingness and ability to learn how to operate work-related equipment.

· Must have the ability to communicate by means of both verbal and non-verbal communication.

· Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.

· High school graduate or equivalent.

· Minimally three years experience managing a custodial staff.

· Must hold a current Pennsylvania Driver's license.

· Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of custodial services and supervision; organizational and planning skills; customer service.

· Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs.
