TITLE: Custodian QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and custodial equipment.
- Ability to climb at least a 10 foot ladder.
- Ability to lift and carry objects at least 50 lbs.
- Additional criteria as the Board may establish.
REPORTS TO: Immediate Supervisor SUPERVISES: None JOB GOAL: To work under the direction of the principal in coordination with the Supervisor of Maintenance to make school buildings and grounds safe, clean, and attractive. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Opens and/or closes school/building.
- Maintains all floors (i.e.: sweep, buff, mop, vacuum floors).
- Maintains bathrooms/locker rooms and restocks paper products.
- Inventories/stores/secures all supplies (cleaning, pesticides, etc.)
- Reports repair requests to the building principal or principal designee.
- Makes deliveries and pick-ups as needed.
- Maintains building environment (i.e.: lighting - change light bulbs, security lights, traffic lights; replaces ceiling tiles, changes filters, maintains building temperatures).
- Performs security check of school building and campus at the opening of school and at the closing of school.
- Performs the following classroom responsibilities, but not limited to: (i.e.: empty trash cans, change trash bags, dust furniture and window sills, wipe chalk boards or white boards after consulting with teacher, disinfect classrooms, disinfect and clean water fountains.
- Maintains campus grounds (i.e.: pick up paper, mow/trim grass 50 feet from building).
- Participates in parish crisis plan and emergency procedures established at each school.
- Completes End of Year responsibilities before leaving the campus for the summer months.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.
- Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor. Job-related injuries include, but are not limited to, any accident or illness which involves loss of consciousness, restriction of work or motion, or medical treatment.
- Responds to emergency situations whenever they occur and assists custodial and maintenance personnel in resolving the problem.
