Our talented staff of approximately 140 FTEs (Cleaning, Mechanical Trades, Central Heating Plant, Grounds, Carpentry, Stockroom, EH&S, Fleet Services, and Mail Services & Duplication) are responsible for more than 2,000,000 SF of property in over 60+ major buildings and for maintaining more than 300 acres.This position is responsible for the cleanliness of all academic, administration and all other buildings as assigned.Duties and responsibilities:General cleaning tasks at campus buildingsSweeping, vacuuming and washing floorsEmptying waste receptaclesCleaning and disinfecting restroom toilets, sinks, countertops, mirrors, showers and high touch surfacesDusting and polishing furniture and fixturesCommunicate building and safety concerns, report need for repair or servicesSnow removal assignmentsAdditional duties as assignedQualifications:High school or equivalentMust be able to adhere to a detailed cleaning programMust be willing to work some weekends and holidaysMust be flexible for on-call assignments and snow shoveling detailMust be able to lift up to 50 poundsA willingness to perform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:Employee handles a range of hazardous materials, including cleaning chemicals and supplies.May have contact with chemicals and fumes, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather related to heat or cold.Noise level in some work environments can occasionally be loud.Physical Demands:Balancing, carrying, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive movement, standing, bending, reaching, sitting, twisting and lifting.Ability to physically perform manual tasks, climb stairs, lift, climb ladders, and bend.Ability to lift (50) pounds unassisted, able to stoop or stand for prolonged periods of time.Special Instructions for Applicants:Please see Custodian Supervisor if interested.Reasonable Accommodation Statement:Mount Holyoke College complies with federal and state disability laws and makes reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities.
