Job Title: College & Career Readiness CoordinatorDepartment: DistrictLocation: Sapulpa Public SchoolsReports To: Superintendent and/or designeeJob Summary: The College & Career Readiness Coordinator at Sapulpa Public Schools, plays a vital role in guiding and empowering students to make informed decisions about their future careers and educational paths. This leadership position is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive career development program for students in grades 6-12, and ensuring students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed in their chosen career pathways. This will be an 11-month position. ICAP: The term ICAP refers to both a process that helps students engage in academic and career development activities and a product that is created and maintained for students' academic, career and personal advancement. ICAP is a student-driven, ongoing process that actively engages students, enabling them to:
- Understand their interests, strengths, values, and learning styles.
- Create a vision of their future.
- Develop individual goals.
- Prepare a personal plan for achieving their vision and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group career counseling to students, helping them explore career options and develop individualized career plans.
- Assist students in setting career goals and monitor their progress throughout high school.
- Oversee that students are reaching all objectives and milestones to fulfill ICAP requirements.
- Assist the Pathways Director in continuing to identify and develop career pathways that align with students' interests, aptitudes, and labor market demands.
- Research and stay up-to-date on industry trends, job market information, and education requirements to inform pathway development.
- Engage with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to build support and involvement in the school's educational pathway program
- Promote the school's career initiatives through marketing and outreach efforts.
- Coordinate career fairs, guest speakers, and industry visits to expose students to various career possibilities.
- Communicate with local businesses to arrange for meaningful field trips, including operations and professional speaking engagements.
- Collaborate with and/or assist pathway coordinators to ensure that internships are offered that best support each student on a specific path.
- Collaborate with and/or assist industry partners to secure all paperwork necessary for the internship program.
- Work and/or assist with students and families in determining the best internship opportunities and ensuring all necessary paperwork is complete.
- Ensure students are aware of and utilize relevant courses, extracurricular activities, and resources to prepare for their chosen career paths.
- Create and maintain a career resource center with up-to-date information on career and education options, scholarships, financial aid, and job search resources.
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on resume building, interview skills, and job search strategies.
- Collaborate with pathways coordinators to integrate career exploration and development into the academic curriculum.
- Assist curriculum team in researching, developing, and implementing curriculum and professional development as it pertains to ICAP.
- Assist the Pathways Director in collecting and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of the career pathway program and make data-driven improvements.
- Track and report student outcomes, such as college acceptance rates, career placement, and other relevant metrics.
- Maintain accurate records and reports for program evaluation and compliance purposes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Prior education experience with a strong preference for prior understanding of ICAP correlated administrative experience.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills with clear and capable verbal & written communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate efficiently with students, parents, community, and co-workers.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience in education, career counseling, or program development.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of local labor market trends and post-secondary education opportunities.
