Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe work environment for employees through daily cleaning and minor maintenance duties of the school district's buildings. Responsibilities of this position may include emptying trash, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, dusting furniture and occasional exterior maintenance Essential Job Functions:
- Performs routine cleaning tasks in the classrooms, conference rooms, hallways, and restrooms on a daily basis
- Routinely inspects the school building to ensure all areas of the building are operational
- Inspects heating, lighting, and ventilation system and fire safety systems to ensure they are working properly to provide a safe environment for staff
- Assures adequate janitorial supplies and equipment are available to maintain the cleanliness of the building
- Makes minor repairs to equipment and reports major problems to leadership
- Reports personal absences in time for Supervisor of Maintenance and School Principal to secure substitute
- Serves as essential personnel, reporting to work during emergencies to perform duties such as shoveling snow and spreading sand on sidewalks
- May work during events scheduled outside of regular office hours, if requested by the Supervisor of Maintenance or School Principal or other delegate party
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current (valid, non-expired) Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
