To provide the necessary operational requirements for the set-up and take-down of equipment and fixtures for athletic events, community events, conferences, meetings and other special activities. To inform the Head Custodian and Building Administrator on the immediate condition of all assigned areas and to make good practice of the following: A. Performing all duties as assigned by the Operations Department Director, Custodial Manager, Supervisor, the Building Administrator and the Head Custodian. B. Maintaining good relations with the public and staff. C. Being trustworthy and practicing confidentiality. D. Keeping one's appearance neat and well groomed. E. Maintaining a good attendance record & being punctual. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Opens and closes daily all building classroom, entrance and exit doors as assigned, ensures that all window and door latches, locks & panic bars are secure and lights other than those designated for security are off in unoccupied areas at all times. 2. Performs all safe work practices following prescribed chemical and equipment operation, storage and handling processes and procedures for personnel protection. 3. Follows prescribed work schedule and performs designated daily, weekly and project cleaning processes and procedures in all assigned areas. 4. Operates and provides for the general maintenance & upkeep of all assigned custodial equipment with minimal supervision to include but not limited to vacuum cleaner, Roto, Automatic Floor Machine, Carpet Extractor (bags, belts, brushes, filters, etc.) 5. Requisitions through the Head Custodian the necessary equipment, chemicals and supplies to maintain the cleanliness, safety and security of the building and grounds (playgrounds, entrances, sidewalks, etc.) at all times. 6. Performs all assigned operational requirements for the preparation, operation, and clean-up of Student, Faculty, Staff, and Community Activities, Athletic and Academic Events. 7. Prepares and submits work orders for corrective maintenance repairs to the Head Custodian for the maintenance and upkeep of the building, equipment and grounds. 8. Inspects daily the exterior entrances, sidewalks and steps for snow accumulation and takes the necessary corrective action during the winter months. 9. Inspects and cleans daily the exterior entrances, sidewalks, steps and surrounding grounds area for debris and trash, reporting any discrepancies to the Head Custodian that require the assistance of the Building and Grounds Department. 10. Submits time records, absence sheets, vacation requests and other reports required by the Operations Department and participates in the monthly inspections of the buildings and grounds. 11. Assists in receiving incoming shipments, moving fixtures and furniture and participates in the district recycling program. 12. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Must have the ability to coordinate and perform all set-up and take-down requirements for athletic and community events, student activities and conferences. 2. Must have adequate health and physical condition to handle heavy manual tasks, ability to hear the conversational voice, or with a hearing aid as required; ability to speak and to be understood, under normal circumstances; full use of arms, hands, legs and feet or sufficient use of all limbs to accomplish assigned tasks; ability to lift & carry items weighing up to 80 lbs and the ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and use a personnel man-lift. 3. Must have the ability to work well on his/her own; ability to be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality; ability to read and follow written and oral directions, and to plan and work well independently or in large groups.
