Posting Details Position Information Position Title Custodian (Full-Time) Job DescriptionPosition: Custodian Full time Salary Hire Amount: $15.25 - $16:50/hour ($31,720 to $34,320 annually) Start Date: Position is open immediately. Close Date: Open until filled Summary: The Custodian is a full-time, 40 hours weekly, benefitted position located at the College's main campus in Torrington. The Custodian performs normal custodial duties such as cleaning, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing in an assigned area. The position's normal workweek and hours are Monday through Friday with a 'Day Shift' (10:00 am - 6:00 pm) during the summer (mid-May through mid-August) and a 'Swing Shift' (4:00 pm - 12 midnight) during the traditional academic school year (mid-August through mid-May). Essential Duties:
- Perform a variety of general cleaning/custodial work; tasks include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, stocking, buffing floors, and refuse collection/disposal and recycling
- Typical assigned areas are hallways, offices, classrooms, restrooms, gymnasium, dining areas, and laboratories
- Monitor supply and inventory levels; restock items when needed upon receipt of re-supply
- Maintain records related to equipment operations and maintenance; submit requests when necessary
- Some snow removal/shoveling from sidewalks and walkway areas
- Additional duties as assigned of a similar nature or level
Required QualificationsQualifications:
- High School (HS) diploma or HS Equivalency Certificate
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English and follow directions
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to exert 75 pounds of force, lift 50 pounds, and climb ladders/scaffolding
- Skill to operate safely and properly commercial cleaning equipment
- Knowledge and application skills of cleaning techniques, chemicals, chemical mixtures, and grounds maintenance principles and practices
- Current and valid state-issued Driver License
