****HIRING**: Full-time Custodian for Mennonite Home Housekeeping Department; Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm**
**JOB SUMMARY**
The purpose of this position is to perform various custodial duties such as; trash collection, cleaning public areas, hallways, elevators, stairwells, project cleaning, etc. as well as assisting with floor care tasks so that Mennonite Home Communities/Woodcrest Villa maintains a high degree of cleanliness and pleasant atmosphere.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
* Properly disposes of Trash, Shred It and Bio Hazardous Waste.
* Assists in moving furniture/resident room changes as needed, mattress and bedframe switches, entrapment inspections, etc.
* Thoroughly cleans all public areas, including: outside porches, trash rooms, corridors, nurses stations/med rooms, lounges, offices, central baths, soiled linen and clean linen rooms, dining rooms, public restrooms, elevators and elevator lights, hallways, stair wells, etc.
* Cleans inside and outside of windows/doors as assigned.
* Cleans light fixtures using step ladder.
* Changes all types of curtains (i.e. privacy curtains, sheers, window curtains, shower curtains, etc.)
* Assists with Floor Care Services; stripping and waxing, extracting carpets, vacuuming hallways and general floor maintenance and care.
* Properly operates a carpet spotter as needed or scheduled.
* Fills out required paperwork; resident moves, daily/project checklists, etc.
* Follows daily/weekly/monthly scheduled assignments/projects as scheduled.
* Power washed entrances, porches, trash rooms, patios and outside patio furniture.
* Operates wheelchair washer (MH staff) and transports WCV linens/furniture as needed.
* Answers all calls over radio / pages overhead.
* Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude at all times.
* Works around elderly persons of various levels of care showing understanding and compassion.
* Works with minimal supervision; works cooperatively with other staff.
* Flexible, works efficiently and has good time management skills.
* Accepts responsibility and follows through with written / verbal instructions accurately.
* Meets a variety of physical requirements such as reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, standing (1-3 hour periods), lifting up to 75lbs., pushing or pulling up to 150 lbs., climbing squatting, kneeling, reading, writing, walking. Being on your feet 95% of the shift. These physical requirements are called for frequently and spontaneously as needed and for varying periods of time.
**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/JOB RELATIONSHIPS**
* Custodian experience preferred but not required.
* Valid PA drivers license to operate company vehicle.
* The Custodian is responsible to the Housekeeping Supervisor and the Director of Housekeeping and Laundry. The Custodian relates to the Housekeeping Supervisor regarding daily tasks, work flow, and minor problems. In the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor or the Director of Housekeeping and Laundry the Custodian relates to the Laundry Supervisor or RN Supervisor (2nd shift) for direction.
