The Building Service Worker reports to Library Administration.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCleans and scrubs restroom facilities; replenishes soap, tissue, towels, and similar supplies.Dusts and wipes offices and meeting rooms.Collects trash and empties garbage; picks up trash outside building; takes trash to dumpster.Cleans kitchens including coffee pots, counters, and microwaves.Cleans and sanitizes water fountains throughout the building. Prepares cleaning solutions and disinfectants.Performs specialty cleaning on an as-needed basis to include refrigerators, windows, etc.Responds to requests from departments regarding immediate needs such as spills, etc.Equipment Supply/MaintenanceMaintains cleaning equipment in good working order through proper use and preventive maintenance.Keeps cleaning supplies and restroom/kitchen paper products and soap available; notifies Supervisor as supplies need replenishing.Ensures storage areas are arranged and maintained in an orderly manner.Notifies Supervisor when equipment needs repair or replacing.Related DutiesObserves building for potential hazards; corrects if possible and/or notifies Supervisor.Performs occasional maintenance as needed, such as plunging clogged toilets.Sets up meeting rooms as needed.In case of accidents, offers assistance according to established procedures; notifies emergency personnel as deemed necessary.Assists in other departments as needed. Performs other related duties as required.JOB SPECIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of proper methods and supplies for cleaning floors, carpets, office furniture, restrooms, and related areas.Skill to perform cleaning duties in offices, restrooms, and kitchens. Skill to read directions/instructions on equipment, cleaning supplies, and related items. Skill to organize and manage time efficiently.Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with associates and patrons. Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to use vacuum cleaners and other housekeeping equipment. Ability to notice potentially unsafe building situations and notify supervisor. Ability to perform job safely in accordance with library safety procedures. Ability to spend the workday engaged in physical work involving standing, stooping, pushing a vacuum cleaner, and carrying heavy loads. Mobility to maneuver among high and low shelves. Ability to work under high-stress situations and with time constraints. Ability to refrain from posing a physical threat to the safety of others.Credentials and Experience:High School diploma or GED. A minimum of one year of work experience in building services or a related area is preferred.Special Requirements:Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check.Hours, Salary and Benefits:19 hours per week; Morning shifts and some weekends; $15.75 per hour.#J-18808-Ljbffr
