Physical Plant Services (PPS) supports the educational and public service programs of Fort Lewis College through the delivery of effective operations support, maintenance services and management of the College facilities construction programs. The Custodian Services work unit exists to provide a safe, clean and functional campus through continuous maintenance, of College facilities and provide support for College events. This position exists to support the mission of the Custodial Services work unit to ensure that the buildings assigned are clean, sanitary and presentable. This is an essential services position and is expected to respond during campus emergencies.This position works on the night custodial crew typically Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Occasional weekend work is required to cover sporting and special events. When working the evening shift, position may be entitled to a shift differential.The duties for this position include but are not limited to:Washing windows and chalkboardsCleaning and disinfecting water fountains, lab sinks and doorsMaking sure classrooms, labs, and offices are secure when appropriateReporting signs of bug, insect and rodent infestationSpot-cleaning walls, partitions, vending machines and doorsSweeping outside entrywaysCleaning telephones. dusting furniture, flat surfaces, blinds and ventsEmptying and cleaning waste containersDusting, damp mopping, vacuuming and burnishing floorsStripping and waxing floorsStraightening desks and furniture when appropriateShoveling snow from entrywaysCleaning restrooms in athletic facilitiesDelivering chairs, tables and other equipment for special events on campusSetting up and breaking down the required equipment for eventsInspecting and keeping all assigned areas clean healthy and safeDetermining the nature of and need for repair when appropriate or arranging for estimates of repairsParticipates in required safety trainings which include but are not limited to first aid/CPR, fire extinguisher training, blood borne pathogens, PPE, slips, trips, and falls, etc.PLEASE NOTE: This job description of duties is not meant to be all in inclusive.
