Please visit the Benefits page ( for more information.Work Location: On-SiteAbout the PositionThe Custodian provides general and detailed cleaning services for Athletics, Academic, Administrative, and Residence Hall Buildings. This position works Monday through Friday (for eight hour shifts sometime between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. - specific schedule to be determined), and is considered essential personnel.Primary ResponsibilitiesRoutine cleaning of Residence Halls, Labs, Classrooms, and Offices, including dusting, vacuuming, and emptying trashDetailed cleaning of laboratories, to include showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors and all other flat surfacesCorridor cleaning, including walls, carpets, tiles, lights, ceilings, and all other flat surfacesBuilding entrance cleaning, including outside steps, plaza, and walk-off matsCleaning of stair wells, dusting, sweeping, and moppingOperating power equipment, vacuums, scrubbers, burnishes, extractors, shampoo machines, and riding equipment in a safe mannerPeriodic project cleaning as prescribed by the supervisor of housekeepingRemoval of trash and recycling materials from buildingsProperly maintaining all equipment in the department to ensure safety and cleanlinessReporting all equipment malfunctions to supervisorRemoving snow from all building steps, walkways, and rampsProviding event support, set up of chairs, tables, and other materialsPerforming floor and carpet care to include top scrubbing, burnishing, stripping, refinishing, extracting and shampooingAssisting with moving furniture and equipment as neededLine of Report: The Custodian reports to the Manager of Housekeeping Services.Minimum QualificationsHigh school degree or equivalent (e.g., GED)Ability to work the 5:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift, any day of the week depending on campus needsPreferred QualificationsThree or more years of experience in a healthcare or education environmentWe are aware that some people are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every qualification in the job description including the preferred qualifications.
